When will the New York State Department of Education realize that Schenectady has been a safe and secure school this year and remove the persistently dangerous label and recognize the outstanding education provided at the high school for students?

The school does provide an excellent education but at the same time has had quite a few incidents this year , more than normal attributing to the rowdy freshman class , the sophomores that quite haven't learned to settle down.

Dear Schenectady School District Administration,

I wanted to wait a full month before asking the question again since per Superintendent Ely's response to another posting, this is not an IM message board and replies may take a while.

What is the status of the Persistently dangerous label at the high school and is there a timeline planned for the Department of Education to remove the label?

since the high school is safe, why not fight the label?

A: This label is placed by the State Education Department and only they can determine when or if the label is removed. No time line has been shared with the District.

A: We have presented the facts to representatives of the New York State Education Department and now must wait as the next steps are in their hands.
